“Razor! Have you got a lock?” T-Bone yelled to his partner as he tried to hold the Turbokat steady.
“Almost. There.” Razor fired a missile as his control panel gave a beep.
The villain they were chasing kept swerving around the missiles.
“Missed Sureshot. Want ta’ try again?” T-Bone asked as he looked back over his shoulder. because he did he didn’t notice the jet turning and the last thing that T-Bone heard was the warning siren telling him that the other jet had locked on and fired.
The Turbokat was still smoking when the Enforcers found the jet. Razor was barely alive.
“T-Bone?…” Razor asked weakly as the paramedics carried him off.
“Where’s T-Bone?” Callie asked Feral, Commander Feral for once was shaken.
“Callie, we have the opinion that T-Bone was killed. They haven’t found his body yet. We don’t know if he was thrown from the jet or not. But the Enforcers are searching the area.” Feral said in a shaky voice.
“I hope they find him…alive…who do you think they are?” Callie asked through her held back tears.
“I’ve always had the idea that they were just a couple of hot shots who got kicked out of the Air Force or something.” Feral said non-commitally.
Callie and Feral walked softly into the room where Razor was. Razor was awake. He sat watching them.
“What do you want?” He managed to say. He was hooked to all kind of monitoring systems.
“Razor. We just came to tell you…” Callie began she stopped when Razor held up his paw for silence.
“You came to tell me that T-Bone is missing, didn’t you?” Razor said. He layed his head back on his pillow and passed out.
T-Bone woke up. He was lying on something soft and fluffy. It looked like a cloud. T-Bone stood up and stretched flexing his wings.
“WINGS?!!!” T-Bone yelled as he noticed them for the first time. T-Bone reached back and grabbed one of the wings and pulled it out so that he could see it better. T-Bone didn’t notice when a she-kat, who looked something like a black panther, appeared and looked at him funny.
“What are you doing?” she asked him.
T-Bone wasn’t paying attention. T-Bone reached around behind him and pulled on the wing really hard and let out a scream of pain. Yes, the wing was definitely attached.
“I said what are you doing?” The she-kat asked again.
“Huh? Oh, I was just trying to figure out if these were real.” T-Bone said distractedly, still studying the wing.
“Well, from that scream I’d say yes and it’s pretty well attached. By the way my name is Onyx.” The she-kat said, “Come with me.” Onyx grabbed T-Bone’s wing and he followed her. (For two reasons, one Onyx is beautiful, and two he’s afraid she’ll pull on the wing again.)
“Where am I?” T-Bone asked looking about himself at the cloud formations.
“T-Bone, don’t tell me you don’t have this figured out by now, you’re in Heaven.” Onyx answered him. She stopped at a cloud formation and opened up a trap door in it.
“What?! Wow, that means I’m an angel.” T-Bone said with a faraway look.
“No, your not.” Onyx replied as she seemed to make some calculations. Then she turned around.
“You mean I’m going…” T-Bone points down with one hand and covers his eyes with his other, thereby missing the grin on Onyx’s face.
“No, but you aren’t an angel by far. T-Bone you are a guardian.” Onyx replied.
“A guardian? Of who and does that make me an angel?” T-Bone asked.
Onyx answered all of his questions at once, “Yes, you’re a guardian of Jake Clawson. No, this makes you more of a guardian T-Bone.”
