Chapter 2

Egypt, 2,077 years after Cleopatra ruled.

Dr. Sinian was on a dig in Egypt. Her digging crew found an ancient tablet. She looked puzzled as she tried to interpret the symbols.

“Lets see now, this symbol is a jackal, and this one is a dragon.” Dr. Sinian sat in the shade of her tent as she studied the symbols.

“Dr. Sinian! Come quick! We’ve just uncovered the lost tomb of Cleopatra!” Randal, her assistant, excitedly said.

She and Randal ran out of the tent. There was a great gold tomb half way uncovered.

“This is one of the greatest discoveries of all time,” Dr. Sinian noted as she kneeled down by the tomb.

The tomb was covered in symbols. One of the symbols was the goddess Isis. Another symbol was a vulture that represented Nekhbet, the goddess that protected Egypt. There were a few Scarabs and an Ankh.

“We’ll ship it to the MegaKat City Museum first thing in the morning,” Randal stated.

“Yes, when it gets to the museum, I’ll start translating these symbols as soon as it arrives.” Dr. Sinian rubbed her hand over the sandy gold.

Sometime at four in the morning, the stars lay over the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx. Dr. Sinian was still studying the tablet. Something about it didn’t seem right to her. There was a picture that had a figure that looked like how Cleopatra was described hovering over a half burned out city that looked like MegaKat City.

“I wonder how over two thousand years ago they could imagine what a modern city looked like.” Dr. Sinian pondered that as she sat back in her chair. The stars in the sky seemed to be watching as the prophecy that Cleopatra had foretold before she was bitten by the deadly spitting cobra unfolded.

Dr. Sinian laid her head down on her pillow and closed her tired eyes.

Something smelled her left over sandwich from lunch and sneaked into her tent. The creature made some rustling noise when it stepped on her back pack. Dr. Sinian opened one eye and saw the intruder was a Jackal. The Jackal froze up and stared up at Dr. Sinian with big black eyes. The Jackal ran out of her tent real quick like lightning.

“And, to think that those shy creatures protected the Pharaohs,” Dr. Sinian said as she laid her head back down on her pillow.

Sometime at six in the morning, Dr. Sinian got up and helped load the tomb of Cleopatra onto the large helicopter. She and Randal boarded the helicopter after loading the tomb.
