Summary: There is criminal activy in Megakat City, and it isn’t the super-villians this time. Now it is a gang seeking revenge. The only problem is it isn’t against the SWAT Kats; it’s against the Enforcers!
Felina stretched her tired muscles. She had been at the warehouse all night. Now she and her uncle were getting ready to go home. They both had combed the warehouse for any sign of the missing Enforcers.
Commander Feral’s radio crackled to life.
“Commander Feral, please come in.”
“Yes, what do you want?”
“The hospital called. The female is awake. They want to know if you are going to come and question her before they give her more medication.”
“Tell them I will be right there.”
“Uncle. Are you really going over there tonight? You haven’t had any sleep for a while.”
“I need to go now. They will probably give her more medication soon which will knock her out for a while. I need to get the information while it is still fresh in her mind.”
“Ok, but I am going with you.”
“No, I know you have not had any sleep for a couple of days. I want you to go home and get some sleep. Report back to work at 1100 hours tomorrow.”
“But, uncle, you might need my help. I really want………….”
“NO! I want you to go home now. That is a direct order!”
With that, Commander Feral climbed back into his cruiser and sped away towards the hospital. Felina just watched him drive off. She looked towards the horizon. The sun was beginning to rise. She really needed the sleep, and she knew that. She just really didn’t want to leave in the middle of this. Reluctantly, she got into her cruiser and drove off. As she got onto the freeway, she realized how tired she was. She nearly fell asleep several times.
Felina finally arrived home. She climbed the stairs of the old apartment complex. It wasn’t a nice apartment building, but it served its purpose. The outside was old brown bricks with small widows dotting its face. A rickety staircase that ascended upward on the inside led to the halls of apartments.
Felina opened the door to her apartment. It wasn’t much, but it was home. There was a small living room with a couch, T.V., and a recliner. The kitchen was also modestly furnished. There was a stove, a microwave, and a scantily furnished refrigerator. Felina stumbled to the bedroom. She took off her uniform and threw it into the dirty clothes hamper. She put on a t-shirt and fell into bed. She lay there for a minute just thinking. After a minute or two, she fell into a deep slumber.
“Razor, do you think Feral stands a chance of finding those Enforcers?”
“I don’t know, bud, but I do think that we need to do some patrolling tomorrow. Maybe we will see something that we didn’t today.”
“Ok, but first we are going to get some sleep. I need to sleep for a few before I try to fly again. I nearly fell asleep at the controls just as we flew past Megakat Tower.”
“Don’t tell me that. I don’t want to hear about it. That is the equivalent of your ‘oops’ and I don’t like to hear those.”
T-Bone flew the jet back the hangar. The platform moved and lifted the jet up to the main hangar. Razor and T-Bone climbed out of the jet, got out of their flight uniforms and stumbled upstairs. Chance didn’t even bother taking a shower and just fell into bed. Jake showered and put on clean boxers and a shirt and fell into bed. It had been a long day indeed. He knew that they needed to figure out who was taking out their revenge on the Enforcers, but he also knew that they wouldn’t be any good if they were tired. He needed sleep, but he couldn’t get it. He was still worried about the three missing Enforcers, and the two that they had found tonight. Neither of them looked very good when they left. He just hoped that Feral had gotten help to them in time.
Jake finally fell asleep. After an hour of tossing and turning, he finally got the peace he needed.
Tashyra awoke with a start. She abruptly sat up in her bed. She looked around her. Four white walls, a couple of chairs, a small bathroom, and some dinner sitting on a tray beside her bed. She looked outside the window to see a skyline dotted with skyscrapers.
“There aren’t any skyscrapers in Twilight City. Where am I?”
“You are at Megakat General Hospital in Megakat City,” came a gruff voice from the door. She turned quickly to see a tall, muscular kat standing in the doorway. He was an older kat, and he had a look of someone with years of experience.
“Who are you?”
“I am Commander Feral of the Megakat City Enforcers. I am investigating the disappearance of three of my Enforcers and the appearance of you and the other enforcer.”
It was at this that Tashyra realized her partner, Charlie, was not in the room with her.
“Oh my gosh! Where is Charlie? Where is my partner? Is he ok?”
“Calm down, Ms. Forge. He is in the hospital, and doctors are taking care of him. Everything is going to be fine. I just need to ask you a few questions.”
“Ok. What do you need to know?”
“Anything you can tell me. How did you get here, what was that gang doing; anything that would help us figure out what is going on around here.”
Feral moved toward one of the chairs and sat down beside her.
Tashyra sat there for a minute and held her aching head.
“Please, Ms. Forge. We really need that information. Don’t worry about anyone harming you. I have Enforcers posted outside the door.”
“Well, I am sorry, but I don’t remember much. All I remember is being on patrol around Twilight City. My partner was driving, and I was watching for activity. I saw some guys vandalizing the side of one of the grocery stores. I got Charlie to stop, and we got out to go stop them. Instead of running though, they all ganged up on us. Charlie radioed for backup, but it never got there. They ganged up on us. I thought I could take them, but I was wrong. They overpowered me. They held a rag up to my face, and I began to black out. Just before I blacked out, though, I saw them knock out Charlie. When I woke up, we were both in a warehouse. Charlie was still out for a minute or two more, but he eventually woke up. The gangsters were talking about what they were going to do with us, until we heard a loud crash. Then, shots were fired. I saw Charlie get shot by a stray bullet. Then, I began to cry for help. The last thing I remember was getting knocked out by one of the gangster’s guns.”
Tashyra looked at Feral. She had tears streaming down her face. Feral got up from his chair and walked toward the door.
“I have told you what I know. Now I want to know what you know. How is Charlie?”
“I am not sure, but I will find out and tell you. Right now though, I think you need some more sleep.”
“I want to help. I want to help you find out how I got here and where your three Enforcers are.”
“Don’t worry about it right now. The Enforcers will handle it.”
“But, I am Enforcer!”
Feral just turned and left the room. A nurse came in and hooked something up to her IV. Tashyra soon began to feel its effects. Within a few minutes, she was peacefully sleeping.
Feral quietly walked down the hallway. Just as he reached the nurses station, a doctor stepped in front of him.
“Commander Feral, may I speak with you?”
“What do you want?”
“It’s about the two Enforcers you found.”
“Alright, let’s hear it.”
“The girl is going to be fine. She only had a mild concussion.”
“I know that. I just spoke with her. Get to the point. I don’t have all day.”
“Yes, Sir. The other one is the concern. He died. The bullet was lodged in his heart. I tried to extract it but he had lost too much blood. I am sorry.”
“Don’t tell the girl. I will tell her later. Just call me when she is ready to leave.”
“Yes Sir. We will.”
Feral turned and walked away. He hung his head as he walked out of the hospital. This was going to be a long day.
